Abstract:
The aim of enhanced recovery after surgery £¨ERAS£©is to reduce surgical stress and incidences of pain and
complications, enhance functional rehabilitation, and improve patients satisfaction by using approved efficient methods in peri⁃operative period. Better pain control is the basis of ERAS. Recent evidence suggests that ¦Á2-¦Ä subunit calcium channel li⁃
gands, like pregabalin, may aid in providing effective postsurgical analgesia. They mitigate central sensitization by calming
down hyperexcited dorsal horn neurons. Therefore, application of pregabalin may be an effective method for reducing early post⁃operative pain and narcotic consumption.
